How Designers Illuminate with Suspenders
Designers return to the iconic lighting system for anchoring spaces at home
Infinitely customizable, it’s no wonder that architects and designers routinely turn to Suspenders by SONNEMAN as they design inspired spaces for living and working. The recently expanded lighting system, revolutionary at its introduction seven years ago, offers specifiers the power of choice through its configurable set of components: Power Bars, Hangers and Luminaires. In celebration of Suspenders’ most significant reimagination to date, discover how designers leverage its bespoke scale, geometry and illumination to create inspired lighting installations.

Make a Grand Entrance
Sculptural and grand, the Suspenders Offset Ring Vertical Matrix with Ladder Luminaires requires spaces of a similar spirit. In an expansive living room—replete with organic shapes and cool tones—Miami-based 2id Interiors turned to the intricate Suspenders Offset configuration. With holistic design in mind, its cascading, counterbalanced rings echo the eclectic and varied furniture forms of the space, while its immense verticality highlights the room’s grandeur and grace.

Illuminate Above the Island
In Fort Lauderdale, Susan Lin designed a beachside kitchen with a modernist sensibility throughout, from the cantilevered kitchen island to modernist materiality. Suspenders Linear Offset Chandelier with Crystal Chiclet Luminaires punctuates the modern design with a graphic impact, mirroring the clean lines of the space’s inherent architectural details through its series of rectilinear shapes. The sleek and modern design pairs perfectly with the contemporary cabinets from ROA Woodwork & Upholstery.

Create an Intimate Scale
Pruett & Co. turned to Suspenders to serve as a centerpiece to a Denver dining room vignette, proving the expansive system’s adaptability to more intimate scales. The Suspenders Zig Zag with Double Glass Rod Luminaires adds a subtly dynamic design element to the space, contrasting the simplicity of forms that surround it while casting a subtle, soft glow from above.
